Smith Travel Grant

The Smith Travel Grant is a need-based grant awarded to students who will study away (domestic or international) during their sophomore or junior year.  The Grant amounts are based on financial need and range from $500 to $2000.

The Smith Travel Grants are awarded for one College approved, for-credit study away experience—an international internship, a semester or academic year abroad, or a short-term, faculty-led course.  These funds may be used to cover the advertised program cost, but it will not cover personal out-of-pocket expenses.

Awards will be determined by the following criteria:
  • Demonstrated financial need, FAFSA forms should be on file in the Financial Aid Office.
  • Institutional GPA, minimum of 2.0.
  • Must have sophomore or junior standing when they study away.
  • Approval for study away by administration and pertinent faculty.
  • Acceptance into a LaGrange College approved credit-bearing study away program.

Students who do not submit a FAFSA form may be considered for a $500 award.  This includes international and DACA students.  Students who participate in tuition exchange or tuition courtesy will not be eligible to apply for this Grant.
